Here is a quick review of the annual Flamsteed Lecture at Derby University held on December 9th. This has got to be the best lecture that I have ever been to, Dr Jeff Hoffman was just awesome with his delivery and wit. The fact that he was talking about historic events that he was a main part of and to him it was just a job with a great view. What a view!!. He is a really nice bloke, myself and John T chatted to him for quite a while. All in all a cracking night, even the free food and drink was very nice.
Here’s a quick resume of our mate Jeff. Dr Hoffman, is not only a hugely experienced veteran of NASA's Space Shuttle programme but one of the men who famously fixed the defective mirror in the Hubble Space Telescope in 1993. He first became a NASA astronaut in 1979 and flew on five Shuttle missions, travelling more than 20 million miles and becoming the first person to clock up 1,000 hours in space. |
