The next group meeting - Wed 8th February at Hopton Hall Stables.
General Information for guests :
The White Peak Astronomical Observing Group ( WPAOG ) observe from Hopton Hall Stables just on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire near Wirksworth. The stables are exclusively for the use of the WPAOG and has a meeting room with kitchen facilities. The skies are very dark and we enjoy an excellent view, with the southerly aspect. There is access to mains electricity to power all the usual accessories, laptops etc for observing or imaging.
The group owns several telescopes, including 12” and 16” Dobsonians and a 14” Celestron CGE computerised GOTO as well as binoculars. Members often bring their own telescopes and visitors are welcome to bring their own as well.
The group specialises in observing as well as imaging. There are members with all levels of experience keen to offer help and advice. Visitors with all levels of knowledge are most welcome.
The start time is 19:30 and if the skies are favourable we will be observing , if the skies are clouded over we will hold a short informal talk.
We ask for a contribution of £1 to cover tea, coffee and biscuits and membership is £25 a year. Visitors are welcome to come and “try us out” a couple of times before needing to join. If you plan to attend and this will be your first time it is advisable to contact us first as the cottage can be difficult to find !
